Ingredients:
- 2 cups of gound beef
- 4 cups of ground beef or lamb, for the shell
- 2 onions, diced
- 2 cups of bulgur wheat
- 1 tsp of coriander
- 2 tbsp of oil
- A pinch of pepper
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the 2 tbsp of oil and diced onions. Cook for about 8 minutes, until soft.
- Add the ground beef and stir to combine it with the onions.
- Sprinkle the coriander, pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Stir again.
- Keep cooking the beef until brown. I recomment to cook it a bit more than usual to have those crispy pieces.
- When your meat is ready, set aside.
- To make the shell, Rinse the bulgur wheat with abundant water.
- Add the rinsed bulgur into a thin cloth and squeeze the excess of water. It needs to be as dry as possible.
- Place it in a large bowl and add some salt and pepper to taste.
- Add in the ground beef or lamb and stir well to create a dough.
- Take about 4 tbsp of shell dough and form a ball. Your hands need to be moist to help avoid cracks in the kibbeh.
- Press the dough ball with your thumb creating a hole in the center, elongating the shape.
- Fill the hole with about 1 tbsp of meat filling.
- Carefully, push the filling and start to close the kibbeh. The traditional shape is an oval one, like an egg.
- Continue with all the shell dough and meat filling.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a pre greased baking sheet, place your kibbeh and bake for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, flip them to bake for another 15 minutes or until golden.
