This recipe combines a simple puff pastry recipe and some rich dulce de leche to make a delectable dessert!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 cups of all pursose flour
- 1/2 cup of butter, cold
- 1/4 cup of cream
- 2 tbsp of powdered sugar
- A pinch of salt
To decorate:
- 3 cups of Dulce de Leche
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, sift in the all purpose flour, powdered sugar and pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
- Cut the butter in chunks and mix them in the bowl with the dry ingredients.
- Using a serrated knife, a fork or any other kitchen tool like a potato masher, you’ll need to cut/smash the butter to get tiny crumbles.
- Start to combine the dry ingredients with the butter crumbles; the texture will be like wet sand.
- Pour the cream into the bowl and stir.
- Using your clean hands, knead the dough until firm and even.
- Sprinkle some all purpose flour on a flat clean surface and keep kneading the dough for at least 10 – 15 minutes. Don’t worry if some chunks of butter are visible in the dough.
- Cut the dough into two pieces and refrigerate them for at least one hour. If you can leave it overnight much better!
- Roll each piece of dough to a 2mm thick rectagle and place it in a previously lined baking tray. Using parchment paper instead of greasing is recommended for this recipe.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
- Bake each rectangle for 20 minutes or until golden.
- Remove from the oven when ready and let it cool down at least 30 minutes.
To decorate:
- Take one of the rectangles and spread the dulce de leche on it. Use the back of a spoon to make it smoother.
- Place the second rectangle on top of the dulce de leche and press slightly, just enough to make it stick.
- Sift some powdered sugar on top!
- You can serve these as big or small as you want.
