Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Meatballs

Nothing better than homemade macaroni and cheese! This recipe will help you to prepare a top dinner!

Ingredients:

For the meatballs:

  • 400 g of ground beef
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 2 tbsp of milk
  • 1 tbsp of garlic powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Black pepper to taste

For the macaroni and cheese:

  • 500 g of pasta, your favorite
  • 2 cups of milk
  • ½ cup of provolone cheese
  • ½ cup of cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup of mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

For the meatballs:

  1. In a large bowl, add in the ground beef, breadcrumbs, whisked egg, milk and all the seasoning condiments.
  2. Using your clean hands, combine the ingredients to get an even mixture. If you feel the mixture is not thick enough, add more breadcrumbs.
  3. Take about 2 tbsp of beef mixture and create balls. The size is up to you! I like medium ones but you can make them larger or smaller.
  4. In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the meatballs and cook for 10 minutes on each side. If you make larger meatballs, you might need to cook them longer.
  5. When ready, set aside to use later.

For the macaroni and cheese:

  1. Boil the pasta as usual. When ready drain and set aside. Use your favorite kind of short pasta.
  2. In a large saucepan, over low heat, add the butter, all-purpose flour and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. After 2 minutes, add the milk and all the cheese. Stir until all the cheeses are melted. Turn the heat off.
  4. Add in the pasta into the cheese mixture. Cover all the spots!
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  6. Grease a baking pan and add the cheesy pasta. Spread well.
  7. Dip the meatballs all over the surface. If you want, you can sprinkle some more cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden on top.

Enjoy!!!
