  1. Durian

We’ll start with the one that you’ll either love or hate. Durian has a reputation from its smell which some people find delightful while others find it vomit-inducing. There is no in between. In fact, it can be so off-putting that China has laws about eating it on public transportation. Still, you should at least give it a try. You might end up liking it.

  1. Mangosteen

  1. Persimmon

The persimmon resembles a tomato, but the firm and sweet flesh are quite a treat. If you let it get a little softer as it ripens, you’re treated to a sweeter flavor. It’s native to China, but was spread thousand of years ago to the neighboring Korean peninsula and Japan.

  1. Sapodilla

You might be inclined to walk right by the sapodilla, but it’s what’s inside that counts. The orange insides are so sweet that they’ve been likened to caramelized pears. If you can’t resist your sweet tooth, try eating sapodillas to satisfy your cravings without expanding your waistline.

  1. Jackfruit

With a meaty texture, jackfruit has been hitting the mainstream as a plant-based way to replace shredded pork. It’s great sweet or savory and you can find it in portable options like dried and chewy or like chips with a crunch.

  1. Pomelo

  1. Starfruit

When you slice this fruit, it looks just like a star, hence the name. Not only does it make for pretty plating, but it also has a slightly citrusy flavor. Plus, you can eat the whole thing so there’s no waste.
