This ham and cheese pie is not only easy and fast to make, it is also incredibly delicious and totally kids, or picky eaters, friendly!
If you want to add some veggies to this recipe, some great options are: chopped purple onions or chives, diced tomatoes and bell peppers. Yields: 4 portions
Ingredients:
- 1 deep dish pie crust
- 2 eggs
- 5oz of mozzarella cheese
- 5oz of gouda cheese
- 7oz of ham, diced
- ½ cup of cream cheese
- A pinch of salt
- Ground pepper to taste
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 350º degrees.
- Melt the cream cheese. If you don’t want to do it in the stove, use the microwave for this, heat it for 10 seconds, stir and repeat until completely melted. Set aside.
- Separate around 30 gr of each kind of cheese. You will use them later.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, both kind of cheeses, diced ham, salt and ground pepper.
- Prepare your pie crust inside a previously greased pan.
- Add the egg mixture inside the deep-dish pie crust.
- Combine your melted cream cheese with the remaining cheeses that you separated before. Mix well.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture all over the top of the pie. Make sure to cover it completely. This step will help to give a nice color when baked.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden on top.
- Cut and serve while still warm.
