To make sushi at home is something that can sound really scary at first but with this recipe you will note that is not and you can have fresh sushi whenever you want!
This recipe calls for a sushi mat which it is something quite specific but you can find really cheap ones online. If you don’t want to buy one, try using parchment paper to roll your sushi.
Ingredients:
- 4 seaweed sushi sheets
- 2 cups of uncooked sushi or short grain rice
- 8oz of imitation crab meat
- ¼ cup of carrots, diced
- ½ cup of cream cheese
- 2 tbsp of rice vinegar
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a large pot, cook your rice as your normally would. When you see that the rice absorbed all the water, incorporate the salt and rice vinegar. Give it a good stir and let it cool down a bit before to assemble the sushi.
- Take a sushi mat and place over one of the seaweed sheets.
- Add about two – three tbsp of rice, wet your hands and slightly press the rice to get an even surface and to cover all the seaweed. Make sure not to leave spots without rice.
- Spread a quart of the cream cheese over the rice, carefully.
- Add pieces of crab meat and carrots, horizontally.
- Now, this step might need some practice to make it perfect but it is not as hard as you might think. Start to roll it up really tight.
- Cut the rolls with a sharp knife and serve with some soy sauce!
