This recipe is for all my cheese and pizza lovers out there! Prepare something delicious and different in a pretty easy way.
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pizza dough
- 1/2 cup of pizza sauce
- 1 lb of mozzarella cheese shredded
- 10 strips of bacon
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of Parmessan cheese
- 1/4 cup of tomato, cubed
- 2 tbsp of parsley, chopped
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Take your pre-made pizza dough and roll it out making a large rectangle on a clean flat surface. You can either use a store bought pizza dough or make your own before baking the stromboli.
- Now it is time to add the sauce. If you are going to use one that is not homemade, I recommend tasting it first to check if it needs some more salt, pepper or anything else. When the sauce is ready, spread it all over the dough leaving some space around the edges.
- Sprinkle 3/4 of the mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Reserve some of it because you will use it later.
- Place the bacon alongside. I think 10 strips is a good proportion but feel free to add more if you want!
- Add the tomato. It can be in chunks, cubes, slices, however you like the most.
- Sprinkle 1 tbsp of parsley all over the filling.
- Roll the dough tight as if you were making a cake roll or cinnamon.
- Place over a previously lined baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg and then brush the stromboli on top with it. This will help to get a better golden color.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and parsley on top.
- Make 3-4 cuts on top of the dough before taking it to the oven.
- Bake the stromboli for 20 minutes or until completely golden on top.
