This is a classic recipe that everybody needs to know how to make. It calls just for a few simple ingredients and it won’t take you more than an hour to complete. Also, who doesn’t love a homemade plate of mac and cheese?
Ingredients:
- 16 oz of macaroni pasta
- 4 tbsp of butter
- 4 tbsp of all purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups of milk
- 8 oz of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp of red pepper
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Cook the macaroni pasta as usual.
- When ready, drain it and keep it in a large bowl or even in the same pot where you cooked it so it will maintain warm.
- In a pot over medium heat, add the four tbsp of butter.
- When melted, add in the all purpose flour and start to stir continuously. During this step you will be cooking the flour so it will lose its taste, you just want the flour to help the cream to be thick.
- After about 5-8 minutes stirring, pour in the milk and keep stirring.
- When the cream starts to feel thicker, it is time to add the shredded cheddar cheese. If you don’t find it shredded, don’t worry, cubed or sliced works as well.
- Stir until the cheese is completely melted.
- Add the pinch of salt and some red pepper.
- When the melted cheese is ready, pour it all over the macaroni and fold it to cover all the pasta with tasty cheesy cream.
- Sprinkle some extra red pepper on top if you want it a bit spicier. Don’t forget to give it your personal touch; to add some cheese, or any other topping you like, on top is a great way to personalize this classic dish.
