Thinking about making homemade pesto sauce sounds too fancy to be easy but believe me, it is really simple and you will only need a few ingredients!
What to serve your homemade pesto sauce with? Without a doubt one of the dishes you have to try it with is pasta! Cook some of your favorite pasta and if you want add some more Parmesan cheese on top or some chopped cherry tomatoes along with the pesto sauce.
Don’t feel you can only enjoy this amazing sauce with pasta, there are many things that you can level up adding some homemade pesto on top/inside. Here are some ideas: baked salmon, in a sandwich or burger, with your pizza, as dipping sauce for potato or zucchini fries, with bruschettas and any other that you can think of!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of basil leaves
- 2 cloves of garlic
- ½ cup of olive oil
- ¼ cup of walnuts, chopped
- ½ cup of Parmesan cheese
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a food processor, combine all your basil leaves, previously peeled cloves of garlic, walnuts and Parmesan cheese. Pulse until completely combined; you want to make sure that the garlic cloves, walnuts and basil leaves became a creamy paste.
- Add the olive oil and turn on the food processor again for 10 – 15 seconds.
- Finally, incorporate both your salt and pepper to taste and process again for at least 15 seconds more to make sure it is well combined.
- Your fresh pesto sauce is ready!!
If you don’t have/like walnuts, try using some other nuts like almonds or cashews; they will work incredibly too!
It is possible to freeze the sauce for up to a month and it will stay great for whenever you want to add some to your plate!
