Orange and Chocolate Marble Cake

This marble cake is going to be your new favorite one! Bake it really simple to eat with some coffee or add some decorations to make the perfect cake for any party.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup of squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. In a large bowl cream together the room temperature butter, salt and sugar. If you want to use brown sugar I recommend using 1 cup instead of 3/4. Complete this step using either a whisk or an electric mixer.
  3. When the butter mixture is completely creamy, start adding one egg at a time and mixing to combine after each one.
  4. Sift into the bowl the all purpose flour and baking powder. Fold in the ingredients to combine.
  5. Divide the cake batter in two bowls.
  6. In the first bowl, pour the squeezed orange juice and stir to combine. If you want some extra flavor, add some orange zest into the batter too.
  7. In the second bowl, add the previously sifted cocoa powder and mix well. Don’t forget to sift the dry ingredients to avoid large lumps in the mixture.
  8. Add some parchment paper into an 8 1/2 in x 4 1/2 in loaf pan. If you don’t have parchment paper, you can also grease the pan with some butter.
  9. Pour into the pan the first batch of batter and then the second one on top. Using a sharp knife or any other thin object, draw some waves over the batter to combine them just a bit. If you want to make the cake to be extra marbling, add half of the orange batter, then half of the chocolate one and repeat with the remaining cake mixture.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden on top.
  11. Serve while still warm!
