Boiled eggs are incredibly versatile. If you prefer hard boiled eggs, you can eat them alone for breakfast, mix them into tuna salad or make them into delicious deviled eggs. If soft boiled eggs are your favorite, you can eat them over toast. However, these are just some of the most common ways to eat boiled eggs. The reality is that there are endless recipes that feature boiled eggs. However, just because boiled eggs are a common food doesn’t mean that they are easy to make. In fact, boiled eggs are one of the most common foods that people cook incorrectly. If you want to learn how to make the perfect boiled egg, try some of these tips:
- Decide whether you want a hard or soft-boiled egg: While both types of boiled eggs are delicious, make sure to decide which kind of egg you want before you start cooking. The type of boiled egg you want will determine the cook time.
- Don’t place too many eggs in the pot: If you overcrowd the pot, your eggs won’t cook thoroughly.
- Use a timer: Timing is key when it comes to boiled eggs. For example, if you want a very runny soft-boiled egg, you should only cook your eggs for 3 minutes, whereas if you want a hardboiled egg, the eggs should be cooked for 15 minutes.
- Cook your eggs in cool water: If you cook your eggs in hot water, your eggs might end up harder than you want them to. Be sure to always use cool water to ensure that your eggs are cooked to the desired consistency.
- Make sure the water covers the eggs by one inch: Before boiling your eggs, make sure that the water is not only covering the eggs, but is covering them by one inch. This will ensure that they cook thoroughly.
- Run eggs under cool water after cooking: After your eggs are finished cooking, cool them down by running them under cool water. This will stop the cooking process and ensure that the eggs cool down enough to eat soon.
Very good information.
Cook them in “cool water” ??? How is that to be accomplished ?
When I make hard boiled eggs I will boil them for like 8 minutes then I shut the want off and let them sit until the water stops boiling cuz I have an electric stove. And also a question for you is it true that if the yoke turns green it’s over cooked
How about salt in the water,… I find that the she’ll come off more easily..??
So .. they are not boiled they are hard cooked. As soon as the water comes to a boil you remove the pot and let them stand for 15 minutes then immediately pour the hot water off and rinse in cold water .. better yet iced water. Cool 3-5 minutes then remove the shells. Perfect hard cooked eggs .. no green sulfur rings.
It is the peeling that is a problem
