This toasted ground beef is the perfect one to make Mexican food! The crispy texture of the meat combines perfectly with nachos, burritos, tacos… If you want to add some extra flavor, add in some of your favorite hot sauce while you’re cooking the beef.
Ingredients:
- 500 gr of lean ground beef
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 green bellpepper, chopped
- 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- 2 tbsp of canola or olive oil
- 2 tbsp of yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- 1 tsp of chilli powder
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large pot, over medium heat, add the canola oil and chopped bellpepper and onions. If you want to use another bellpepper color that will totally work too! Remember to remove the seeds before adding.
- Stir your veggies every now and then until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the pot and mix it with the veggies. Using a wooden spoon, make sure the beef is well separated to let it cook evenly.
- Sprinkle the chilli powder, garlic powder, sugar, salt and pepper over the beef. Stir to combine, you need the seasonig well distributed.
- After about 15 minutes of cooking, add the mustard, tomato paste and about 1/4 cup of water. Let it cook for another 20 minutes.
- Stir occasionally and wait until the water evaporates. In this step the meat is going to be cooked but we need to go an extra step to make this even more delicious.
- The beef is completely cooked now but we want it toasted and crispy so turn the heat to low and keep cooking it for another 15 to 20 minutes until really dark brown.
Your beef is ready!
